MAWK3 is a force to be reckoned with. This LA-based modern rock power trio features heavy guitars, driving beats and radio-friendly hooks. The band came together first as friends and quickly discovered there was an effortless, beautiful chemistry when they got into a room to make music.
For years vocalist/bassist Steve Giles, guitarist Jason Sweeny, and drummer Dan Nelles played in various rock bands in and around Los Angeles including The Secret Things, Saucy Monky, Dream Life Misery, 3 Penny Needle, The Magnetic South, and The Obvious Wish. Prior to the Summer of 2023 however, never had all three been in the same group. Eventually “we should jam sometime” turned into a booked rehearsal room in North Hollywood, and after the very first night it was clear something special was happening.
The ”Middle Aged Wrecking Krew” (a nickname from trips the trio would make for nights out in Hollywood) went from a text thread title to a band name overnight. They wrote 30 songs in the first six weeks and were off and running. Studio time was booked, and they put down the nine tracks that would make up their debut album “Bravo Zulu,” which was released on Seraphim records in October of 2024, with their debut single "Supernatural" released on June 14, 2024.
"Bravo Zulu" reached the ears of listeners and new fans in countries and cities around the world, leading MAWK3 into a new world of global exposure and success.
The band would follow up "Bravo Zulu" with it's sophomore effort "Shangri L.A." set to be relased in 2026. The first single from the forthcoming record is "Indiana Jones" - a song about saying "it's ok to ask - we actually DO need support and love from those around us to get where we are going in life." Released on November 7, 2025, the song is already garnering the same international attention for the band, with the song getting great responses from Brazil, Mexico, Italy, France, the UK, Chile, Portugal, Serbia, Peru, Colombia, Canada, and the USA, just to name a few, with industry professionals describing it as "Pure gold!," and "OMG, It is wonderful!!" With such a response, the band is excited to be pressing forward with releasing a music video for "Indy," with the forthcoming title track "Shangri L.A." set for release as the second single from the record.
Calling on influences from Led Zeppelin to Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age to Royal Blood, the band’s sound has a fury and fire that is sure to connect with rock fans of any era.
